The film’s producer gives an update on Johnny Depp’s role in Pirates of the Caribbean 6.

In 2018, Johnny Depp was officially dismissed from the franchise.

The sixth instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean will be radically different from the previous flicks. It is a soft remake and will star Karen Gillan from Avengers: Endgame in the lead role. However, it was reported earlier this week that Johnny Depp would reprise his role as Jack Sparrow.

In 2018, Johnny was formally removed from the franchise. When Pirates of the Caribbean 6 was announced, social media was swamped with requests for the actor’s return. A few days later, Skyler Shuler addressed the rumours regarding Johnny Depp’s participation in the picture.

In an interview with Collider, Jerry was asked how Johnny Depp will return in Pirates of the Caribbean 6. The producer’s response was ambiguous, but he implied they might have him in a restricted position. Jerry Bruckheimer stated, “We are unsure of Johnny’s participation in the current project we are producing. So, we’ll have to wait and see.”

Jerry stated, in response to a question regarding the current status of Pirates of the Caribbean 6, “We’re now working on a draught, which we aim to submit to Disney as soon as possible. We cannot say. We have been working on it for some time.”

ย However, the pair eventually left the project. The producers hired Chernobyl author Craig Mazin and the original Pirates of the Caribbean author Ted Elliott to pen the screenplay. Therefore, it would be intriguing to see what the relaunch with Karen has in store for viewers.
